Our Story
Creating a Safe Space for Summerside’s Youth
In the mid-90s, the youth of Summerside roamed the streets with nowhere to go. What started as frustration from local residents turned into a movement for change. A Summerside police constable met a group of youth in a fast food parking lot. The youth asked the constable where they were supposed to go, and an idea was born.
Generation XX is the outcome of a group of people with a vision for youth that went beyond getting them temporarily out of sight. Instead it focused on getting them involved and giving them a sense of belonging somewhere.
Since the beginning, the club has been managed by both a board of adults and a youth board that work together to set direction, make decisions, and shape priorities. We provide avenues for youth to join our board, attend conferences, develop leadership skills, make new friends, and engage with their community.
Youth-Led Programs
Our structure and youth board empowers our youth to actively participate in setting the direction of our programs. Numerous projects led by our youth address pressing issues affecting their peers and communities. From organizing demonstrations and fundraising events to tackle youth homelessness, to spearheading campaigns to address food insecurity and support those aging out of care, our youth have consistently demonstrated their commitment to creating positive change.
Generation XX has grown into a community-driven club where youth aren’t just participants—they’re leaders.

Did You Know: GenXX offers free youth leadership development such as board involvement, self-awareness learning, access to conferences and practical leadership experience.
Generations of Impact
Generation XX isn’t just about today’s youth. Over the years, generations of members have come back, often with their own children, to continue the legacy of mentorship, leadership, and community engagement. We are proud to see the ripple effect of positive change that started decades ago still flourishing today.
